It’s smart to use a new name when writing outside of your genre so that your readers know that this a different genre of book from your normal genre. Think of it this way: What if Stephen King wrote a romance novel? Wouldn’t it be better if he had a different name assigned to that book? If not, you may think that this romance novel is actually a horror story of some sorts.
